Water Wells

Water Wells

Water is the most precious of natural resources; without it, you only have three to four days to live. Most people in the United States underappreciate the infrastructure and processes it takes to maintain a public water supply. Any water agency's goal is to have a reliable water system that delivers potable water supplies without fear of contamination. Sadly, the majority of the world's peoples don't enjoy this luxury and often walk miles daily to get water.

Therefore, clean, safe drinking water coupled with education is essential. In addition, sustainability is a must. Sustainability requires the maintenance of the well and training of the people. The training is often a challenge, and the necessary financial resources to have a maintenance program require long-term planning.

We have completed eight wells, and each one had different problems. Some were hand-dug, and some were dug by machinery. But when a well is completed and that first drop of water comes out, witnessing the excitement of the people and knowing the benefits is priceless.

Having access to safe drinking water saves lives. It's the starting point of good health. And this is why we dig wells. As with sharing Christ, the Living Water that saves souls.

"And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost” (Rev.22:17).
